  • Prep Time : 6 minutes
  • Cook Time : 19 minutes
  • Yield : 1 serving

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Form 6 ounces of medium ground beef into a patty and season both sides liberally with salt and pepper
  2. Peel two red potatoes.  Leave some skin on both ends of the potatoes.  Slice potatoes into thin shoestrings.  Rinse the fries in a bowl of water.  Strain and pat dry with some paper towel.
  3. Heat around an inch of vegetable oil on medium heat in a pot or pan of choice.  Be careful that the oil doesn't get too hot.  Add the shoestring potatoes and cook until golden brown, watching them constantly until cooked (as always a deep fryer is a safer method).  When golden, remove the potatoes from the heat and oil, to a bowl and season with salt and pepper.
  4. Cut three pieces of bacon in half and cook the six pieces in a pan.  When crispy, remove and reserve for later.
  5. Cook the hamburger patty in the same pan as the bacon on medium to high heat.  Cook 3 minutes on the first side and 2 minutes on the second.  Remove to a baking sheet for later.
  6. Next butter a large hamburger bun.  Toast the bun, butter-side down on a pan on low heat for around 1 minute or until lightly toasted.
  7. Add a mound of cheddar cheese to the hamburger patty.  Place it in a 450° preheated oven for 2 to 3 minutes until cheese is melted.  In addition to melting the cheese, this will allow the inside of the burger to continue to cook.  (Use a meat thermometer to make sure the burger is cooked to a safe temperature to eat.)
  8. Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a medium heat pan.  Cook an egg to over-easy around 1 minute per side.  The key to this burger is that egg is served runny, since the runny egg yolk acts as a sauce.  Don't forget to season.
  9. Now is time for The ultimate Breakfast Burger construction!  Place the hamburger patty with melted cheese on the bottom of the bun.  Next add your six pieces of bacon whilst saying aloud the word "bacon."  That step is mandatory.  Place the over-easy egg on top of the bacon.  Squirt ketchup on top.  Place a handful of the shoestring fries on top.  Spread mayo on the top of the bun and the construction is complete.  Serve with the remaining shoestring fries.  Devour and enjoy!
